DE LUZ — One person is dead following a collision involving two motorcycles on De Luz Road Saturday afternoon, prompting a heavy emergency response and a prolonged road closure.
The crash was reported at approximately 12:40 p.m. near the intersection of De Luz Road and Dos Cameos. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has classified the incident as a fatality.
Emergency crews from the North County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire arrived at the scene to find the roadway blocked. Ground ambulances transported patients to a nearby landing zone to be airlifted by Reach Air Medical Services and Mercy Air.
One fatality has been confirmed. The condition of any other individuals involved remains characterized as injuries of unknown severity.
The CHP issued a Sig Alert for the area at approximately 1 p.m. As of 2 p.m., officials advised that the road closure is expected to last three to four hours while the investigation is conducted. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes.
