HEMET, Calif. — Several individuals were detained and a firearm was recovered following a traffic collision and subsequent search at an apartment complex near Devonshire Avenue and Kirby Street.
The incident began with a vehicle crash at the intersection. Following the collision, the driver and passengers of one of the involved vehicles fled the scene, prompting a response from the Hemet Police Department.
Officers tracked the individuals to a nearby apartment complex. During the investigation, authorities located a backpack containing a firearm.
The suspects were located within the complex and detained. It is currently unclear what charges they may face or if the firearm is registered.
