CHP officer transported after accident

TEMECULA, Calif. — A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was injured and transported to a hospital Friday morning following a collision with a sedan, prompting road closures on Jefferson Avenue, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 9:31 a.m. near 28093 Jefferson Ave.

According to an officer at the scene, the CHP motorcycle collided with a white sedan driven by a young man. The injured officer was transported “Code 3” — an emergency medical response utilizing lights and sirens — to a local hospital. An officer at the scene confirmed the injured CHP officer is expected to survive.

Following the collision, authorities closed Jefferson Avenue in both directions between Del Rio Road and Calle Cortez. The CHP Computer Aided Dispatch log showed multiple units responding to the area throughout the morning to secure the scene, assist with the investigation, and manage traffic control.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while the closure remains in effect. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
