
Perris Auto Speedway opened its 2026 season February 14, and Hemet resident Austyn Jaramillo won the Factory Stocks main event.The main event win was the first in that division for Jaramillo, who has been racing at Perris Auto Speedway since 2020 and in the Factory Stocks class since 2022. “That was a little unexpected,” he said.“I wasn’t super confident in the car,” Jaramillo said. “I didn’t know how it was going to handle, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was good. It was a long time coming.”Other than when he lived with his grandparents in Winchester, Jaramillo is a lifelong Hemet resident. He graduated from Tahquitz High School in 2014.Jaramillo’s stepfather, James Cox, drove at Perris and other tracks and became a Perris Auto Speedway infield worker
