Firefighters contained a heavy blaze that tore through the roof of a Farmer Boys restaurant in Perris on Tuesday afternoon, according to CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department.
The commercial structure fire was reported at 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of Romona Expressway and Perris Boulevard. Arriving crews encountered a “heavy fire” situation, with thick smoke and flames visible through the building’s roof.
Current Status
While the flames have been extinguished, fire crews and heavy equipment remain on-site. Officials stated that firefighters will be committed to the scene for at least two hours to perform salvage and overhaul—a process where crews search for hidden hotspots and protect any remaining property from secondary damage.
Traffic in the area may be impacted as emergency vehicles continue to block lanes near the busy intersection. The public is advised to avoid the Romona Expressway and Perris Boulevard area until operations conclude.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
