I spoke to a few Iranian Americans on Saturday who were rejoicing that the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran. Saturday may be remembered as one of the most consequential days in modern Middle East history. Coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes, described as Operations Epic Fury and Roaring Lion, targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, missile systems, naval assets, and senior leadership, including reports of the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. For many watching around the world, particularly among the Persian/Iranian diaspora, the moment brought elation and long-held hope.
