
SACRAMENTO — State Treasurer Fiona Ma announced a statewide initiative to help eligible California community college students claim available CalKIDS Scholarships, connecting about 40,000 students with roughly $20 million in funds.The effort is a partnership between CalKIDS, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and the California Cradle-to-Career Data System. Using existing student data systems, colleges can now identify enrolled students who have unclaimed CalKIDS scholarships and conduct targeted outreach to help them access the funds.CalKIDS, administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board and chaired by Ma, automatically provides eligible California public school students with up to $1,500 for college or career training expenses.
