The Rancho California Water District board approved a five-year Capital Improvement Plan for the district.A 7-0 vote April 9 approved the five-year plan while also approving an $18,544,000 budget for major and minor capital projects for Fiscal Year 2026‑27. The five-year plan calls for $140,521,000 to be spent between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2031.The Rancho California Water District now provides potable water service to approximately 99,170 acres. The district was formed in 1965, and the original area became a retail agency of the Eastern Municipal Water District in 1966. The affiliation with Eastern allows Rancho Water to receive Metropolitan Water District of Southern California supply from Eastern, which was also granted wastewater powers for the original district area.
