An adult and a juvenile died Tuesday evening in a three-vehicle collision on State Route 74 in Hemet, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to Cal Fire Riverside Captain Clingingsmith, there were five victims and three were transported from the scene.
The crash was reported shortly before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Ramona Expressway in Hemet. CHP incident logs indicated three vehicles were involved, including a silver Nissan SUV, a silver sedan and a white Ford Mustang.
Initial reports stated that one vehicle rolled over and landed back on its wheels. Emergency responders from CHP, Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and Cal Fire were dispatched to the scene.
According to CHP logs, a juvenile was found without a pulse following the crash. Deputies and firefighters used rescue tools to access one of the vehicles and attempted lifesaving measures.
At approximately 6:23 p.m., authorities requested the Riverside County Coroner’s Office respond to the scene. Additional entries later confirmed the coroner had been notified and was en route.
The collision prompted significant road closures in the area. Authorities coordinated with Caltrans to shut down portions of State Route 74 and surrounding roads while investigators processed the scene and emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No names or additional details regarding the victims have been released pending notification of next of kin.
