A fast-moving vegetation fire that initially threatened nearby structures was quickly contained Friday afternoon in the 58700 block of Wellman Road, thanks to a rapid response by firefighters and assistance from local residents.According to an incident report from Liam Winstead, Watch Duty manager of operations, the fire was reported at 2:12 p.m. June 5. The blaze was estimated at about 2 acres upon arrival and was burning in light, flashy vegetation with an immediate threat to nearby structures.
