Stolen vehicle found ablaze on East Main Street in San Jacinto, driver missing

A stolen Toyota Tacoma from Brea was found fully engulfed in flames early Saturday morning on East Main Street, sparking a brief vegetation fire before crews extinguished the blaze.

Cal Fire engine companies E25 and 3175 responded to the reported vehicle fire at approximately 1:36 a.m. on Aug. 8. Upon arrival, firefighters found the truck fully involved in flames, which had begun spreading into the surrounding brush. Firefighters successfully knocked down the blaze before it could spread further into the vegetation.

The driver of the vehicle was not found at the scene, and it remains unclear if anyone sustained injuries of unknown severity prior to fleeing the area.

During the investigation, authorities determined the Toyota Tacoma was registered out of Brea and had been reported stolen. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene to conduct the stolen vehicle recovery investigation.
