A fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred Wednesday morning on State Route 74 at Steinhoff Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) logged the incident as a fatality at 9:39 a.m.. Initial dispatch information indicated the crash was believed to be between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The collision and subsequent investigation caused significant traffic disruptions on eastbound State Route 74 throughout the afternoon. At 4:09 p.m., CHP personnel requested the closure of eastbound lanes on a blind hill so an investigation unit could safely capture drone footage of the scene.
Additional lane closures were required as the afternoon progressed. At 5:19 p.m., officers held eastbound traffic to set up a cone pattern. By 5:25 p.m., eastbound traffic was moving again, but was restricted solely to the number one lane.
