Taffle Fire grows to 77 acres, reaches 50% containment near Hemet
HEMET — Firefighters have increased containment of the Taffle Fire to 50% after the wildfire grew to 77 acres southeast of Hemet, according to CAL FIRE at 11:30 today, August 15, 2026
The fire was reported Thursday, Aug. 14, near Taffle Ranch Road and Louis Lane, approximately 5 miles southeast of Hemet. It remained active Friday.
Evacuation orders previously issued for Riverside County zones RVC-1912 and RVC-1979 have been reduced to evacuation warnings. Residents in those areas should remain prepared to leave if conditions change.
The fire was previously reported at 55 acres with 5% containment.
Approximately 50 personnel were assigned to the incident, including five engines, two water tenders and three hand crews. Six additional resources were also assigned. Air tankers from throughout California were conducting fire-suppression missions as conditions allowed.
No structures were reported damaged or destroyed, and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation. The CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department is managing the incident.
