A final design contract for the Eastern Municipal Water District’s planned desalination complex bypass treatment facility in Menifee was approved by the EMWD board October 7.The 5-0 vote authorized an agreement with Carollo Engineers, Inc., for the final design. The San Diego company will be paid $1,449,035, and the EMWD board approved total appropriations of $1,915,243 for the design, specification review, and bid and award phases.The district’s desalination complex is located in the 29200 block of Valley Boulevard just west of Murrieta Road. Brackish groundwater from the Perris South and Lakeview groundwater sub‑basins is treated at the Menifee, Perris I, and Perris II desalter facilities.
