The Jojoba Hills SKP Resort will host its 30th Annual Community Yard Sale Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 25, with thousands of items available for bargain hunters. Gates open promptly at 8 a.m. each day, and the sale runs until 2 p.m. Sunday offers two special opportunities to save. From 8 a.m. to noon, everything will be 50% off. From noon to 2 p.m., shoppers can fill a bag for just $3.

Held every October since 1996, the long-anticipated event is known for its wide variety of merchandise and attracts shoppers from throughout the region. This year’s sale features donations from residents of the 280-family RV resort, with tables filled with pots and pans, books, clothing, jewelry, tools, electronics, camping gear, collectibles, holiday decorations, small appliances, furniture and linens. Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own bags and arrive early for the best selection. The sale is cash only. No dogs will be permitted at the event.

The annual tradition was established in 1996 by resort resident Gary Hagelbarger, who oversaw the event for 26 years. Today, dozens of volunteers work together to coordinate the massive undertaking, ensuring that merchandise is organized and shoppers can navigate the sale efficiently.

Volunteers handle everything from cashiering and answering questions to directing traffic, providing shuttle service and helping shoppers load their purchases. Thousands of items are displayed on tables and racks, with merchandise grouped by category in designated locations around the resort office. The layout remains consistent from year to year, making it easier for returning shoppers to find their favorite treasures.

Department heads coordinate the many tasks required in the weeks leading up to the sale and throughout the weekend, helping keep the operation running smoothly.

Beyond offering affordable merchandise, the event gives Jojoba residents an opportunity to recycle unwanted belongings while raising money for resort activities. All proceeds benefit the resort’s members, helping cover the cost of live bands, entertainment, catering and other extras for social gatherings at Jojoba Hills.

The sale also benefits the surrounding community by making a wide range of reasonably priced goods available to the public. At the conclusion of the 2025 event, unsold items were donated to local charities.

The sale’s popularity continues to draw shoppers from across the region. More than 500 vehicles passed through the resort gates during the 2025 sale weekend, demonstrating the event’s appeal to bargain hunters and its place as a well-established community tradition.

With three days of shopping, thousands of items to explore and deep discounts on Sunday, the 30th annual sale promises plenty of opportunities to find something useful, unique or unexpected.

Jojoba Hills SKP Resort is located at 45120 Highway 79 South in Aguanga, half a mile west of State Highway 371.
