Murrieta – The City of Murrieta has earned the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Triple Crown Award for the second consecutive year, recognizing the City’s commitment to financial transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial reporting.
Murrieta is one of only 441 agencies in the United States and Canada to receive this distinction, which recognizes governments that achieve all three of GFOA’s financial reporting awards. Fewer than 1% of local governments earn the Triple Crown Award.
The Triple Crown Award recognizes achievement in three distinct GFOA programs:
- Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting:
- Recognizes high quality annual financial reports that promote transparency and full disclosure.
- Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award:
- Honors clear, accessible financial reports designed to help residents and the public understand their government’s finances.
- Distinguished Budget Presentation Award:
- Recognizes budget documents that meet high standards as policy documents, financial plans, operations guides, and communication
tools.
Receiving this award for the second consecutive year reflects Murrieta’s commitment to providing residents, stakeholders, and decision-makers with reliable information about how public funds are managed.
The City of Murrieta remains committed to maintaining strong financial practices and providing the public with transparent information about the City’s budget, financial position, and use of taxpayer dollars.
