The second annual Autumn in Anza Festival brought fun, food and crafts to the Anza Village Center Saturday, Oct. 17. Held in conjunction with the fourth annual Cancer Walk, the event brought community members together for a festive day of shopping, activities and charitable giving.
Partly cloudy skies, a breezy afternoon and a few sprinkles provided a little autumn atmosphere, but the weather did little to dampen spirits. In fact, the cool conditions made for comfortable walking weather as Cancer Walk participants trekked along the pre-planned route.
The Village Center parking lot came alive with local crafters offering handmade gifts, artwork and treats. Anza Electric Cooperative crews showcased a pair of the co-op’s large bucket trucks and an animated electrical safety demonstration board. Co-op staff were also on hand to assist with raffles and sign-ups.
The Cancer Walk raised approximately $6,400 for Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center, which provides free services and support to individuals and families affected by cancer. Services include support groups, wigs, prostheses, art programs, wellness classes, one-on-one support and more.
“Thanks to all the Gold Sponsors – Anza Electric Cooperative, Lions Club, Olivet University, Wicker Well Service, as well as the Anza Ranch Market, Helping Paws Veterinary Services, Anza Valley Hardware, Pizza Factory, Redshank Riders, Hamilton Museum and Ranch Foundation, Valley Auto, Cahuilla Casino and Hotel, and the Anza Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1873,” said Cancer Walk organizer Pebbles Lewis. “We greatly appreciate all the sponsors, participants and Eryn Sisk, Debbie Imlay and Fauna Rangel – we couldn’t have done it without you.”
Dozens of crafters, clubs, food vendors and other community members participated in the Autumn in Anza Festival, contributing to the day’s lively atmosphere and exhibiting the variety of talents and offerings found throughout the community.
Beyond the festivities, the Autumn in Anza event also supported a local cause. Proceeds from the festival will help provide holiday gifts for local children, extending the spirit of generosity into the holiday season.
The Anza Village Center is located at 39100 Contreras Rd. in downtown Anza.
