cocktails and mocktails!

On Saturday evening, October 25, starting at 5 pm, the 127 West Social House will transform from its usual status as Fallbrook’s downtown dining hotspot into the town’s new official “Haunted Mansion.” Think about classic movies like House on a Haunted Hill, The Shining, and Poltergeist. That’s the vibe. It’s up to you to find the right costume for the night! Beware, spooky sights and sounds, animatronics, a live band, delicious food, drinks, vintage candy and dozens of raffle gifts and a silent auction! Minimum donation of $40 includes charcuterie table appetizers, dinner, desserts, and one drink.

Located at 127 W. Elder Street, right behind that unmistakable big red railroad caboose off Main. 127 W. Social House will again host this year’s Halloween Spooktacular Fundraiser. As the photos prove, Jack Kovic and Faro Trupiano have found evidence of an afterlife in Fallbrook. You can’t miss it. And if you do, the spirits will know! 100% of the proceeds fund the Village News Journalism Mentoring Program, Mentoring for Purpose, and the Fallbrook Historical Society, preserving both the past and the future of our town. You can still donate or get tickets at the Village News located at 111 W Alvarado St, Fallbrook or at this link: https://square.link/u/UZto2F3k and receive a 6-month complementary subscription to the newspaper.

Last year’s Spooktacular drew a huge crowd of ghosts, pirates, and a suspicious number of insurance salesmen dressed as “vampires.” The party was situated on the 127 West Social House back patio. This year, organizers have doubled down and secured the entire restaurant, which means guests and ghosts can stretch out for even more fun.

Food, Food, Food: Faro Trupiano, Fallbrook’s culinary mastermind, will unleash his trademark magic on unsuspecting taste buds. Known for juggling multiple restaurants with ease, Faro promises a menu that will make you forget you’re in a haunted house-unless, of course, your dinner starts floating toward the ceiling. Some of the food offered this year will include a charcuterie table as appetizers, gourmet pizzas, mac and cheese, shaved tri-tip, pulled pork, chicken, desserts, and drinks.

Fun, Fun, Fun: The patio and dance floor will come alive-or undead-thanks to California’s premier dance band, Dance Revolution. Last year, the floor was filled with ghostly gyrations and enough awkward zombie shuffles to last a lifetime. This year, expect even more hauntingly good moves.

Spirits, Both Kinds: Your ticket includes drinks–both alcoholic and mocktails. Because nothing says “Haunted Mansion” like sipping a martini while watching Dracula argue with your mother-in-law.

Raffles, Contests, and Prizes: With dozens of raffle giveaways, dance competitions, and costume awards, the odds of walking away with something other than a hangover are higher than usual.

Tickets are $40 at the door. Group rates are available if you’re brave enough to travel in packs. And remember, 100 percent of donations are tax-deductible and benefit the Fallbrook Historical Society and the Village News Mentoring Program, which is training our next generation of local journalists (because someone has to document these ghost sightings).

So when was the last time you went to a haunted house where you left full, and with a silent-auctioned gift basket of avocado oil? Exactly. Fallbrook’s best-kept secret won’t stay secret for long. The corner of Elder and Main is about to get highly spirited.
