JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. — A mountain biker was rescued Saturday afternoon after becoming stranded in an inaccessible area northeast of the Sunnyslope neighborhood, fire officials said.

The CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department responded to the report at 3:07 p.m. in the hills of Jurupa Valley. Upon arrival, emergency crews located the cyclist in terrain that was difficult to reach with standard vehicles.

According to a department statement, the mountain biker suffered moderate injuries. Following the successful extraction from the hillside, the patient was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

Firefighters remained at the scene for approximately one hour to recover equipment and clear the area. No other injuries were reported during the operation.

The specific cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the identity of the cyclist has not been released.
