LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — A heavy fire broke out at a commercial self-storage facility in Lake Elsinore on Tuesday evening, spreading to dozens of units and causing minor injuries to one person, fire officials said.
Firefighters with the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department responded to reports of a commercial structure fire in the 29100 block of Riverside Drive at 5:08 p.m. The first arriving units encountered heavy fire emanating from three units of the single-story facility.
The blaze eventually expanded to involve a total of 20 storage units before firefighters could halt its progression.
According to incident commanders, a massive response was mounted to contain the flames. Forty personnel, including overhead support, and 11 pieces of fire suppression equipment were dispatched to the scene.
Medical personnel evaluated one civilian at the scene for minor burns. The individual refused further medical treatment, and no other injuries to bystanders or first responders were reported.
The cause of the commercial fire remains under investigation.
