IDYLLWILD (CNS) – An injured hiker was the focus of a rescue effort this afternoon in a remote area near Idyllwild in the San Bernardino National Forest.
A call came in at 1:41 p.m. that a lone hiker with an unspecified injury needed assistance on a trail on the south side of Lily Rock near Tahquitz Peak, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter worked with firefighters on the ground to hoist the hiker from the trail to a waiting ambulance. The patient, whose name and age were not released, was transported to a local hospital with what were described as moderate injuries.
