The anguish of losing a child is the most devastating experience any parent can face. This loss is profound at any age or circumstances and the impact cannot be fully understood by those that have not experienced it. One local mother is focusing her grief in a multifaceted way, including planting sunflowers in her son’s and his friend’s memory.“I planted these sunflowers in memory of Jacob Ryan Szymanski and Jonathan Curtis Barksdale June 13, exactly four years after their tragic, untimely deaths. Beautiful flowers for some beautiful souls,” Kim Szymanski said. “They deserve to be remembered with beauty, for that was who they were.
