The Eastern Municipal Water District issued GHD, Inc., the design contract for the next phases of the Sun City Pipeline Replacement Program.A 5-0 EMWD board vote April 1 approved a $990,019 contract with GHD, which has an Irvine office. The board approved total appropriations of $1,163,000 which will also cover $58,000 for EMWD engineering labor costs, $8,000 of district expenses for the construction bid advertisement, $25,000 for permitting, $10,000 for environmental expenses, $10,000 for the final preparation and review of plans and specifications, and a $61,000 contingency.Eastern’s routine potable water pipeline replacement program includes identifying key segments which have experienced multiple leaks and line breaks in past years.
