Fire crews knocked down a second-alarm commercial structure fire in Murrieta on Monday afternoon, containing a blaze that prompted a heavy emergency response.
The incident was first reported at 1:47 p.m. at a apartment complex located at 24850 Hancock Ave., Suite K210, near the intersection of Las Brisas Road.
As units arrived, the Murrieta Fire Department’s Public Information Officer issued a statement advising the public to avoid the immediate area to allow emergency personnel to work safely. The situation escalated shortly after crews engaged the blaze. Incident command, operating under the tactical name “Water IC,” requested a second alarm at 2:02 p.m. to bring additional manpower and resources to the active scene.
Dispatch records show a substantial multi-agency presence, with more than a dozen units assigned. At the height of the incident, at least 10 units were actively engaged on scene, including multiple engine companies, trucks, and a battalion chief.
Firefighters made quick progress, successfully knocking down the main body of the fire by 2:23 p.m., just over 30 minutes after the initial dispatch.
At this time, this is an incident with injuries of unknown severity, as official medical status or casualty reports have not yet been released by responding agencies. The cause of the fire remains under investigation
