A broken gas line outside a commercial business prompted the temporary evacuation of 10 nearby businesses and closed a section of Temecula Parkway early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to reports of a gas leak in the 31800 block of Temecula Parkway at 7:06 a.m. Upon arrival, crews discovered a ruptured two-inch gas line exterior to the building and established the Wolf Incident Command.
Authorities immediately initiated localized evacuations for 10 surrounding businesses as a precaution. Additionally, Temecula Parkway was shut down at the Via Rio intersection, with officials urging morning commuters to use alternate routes while the scene remained active.
Crews from Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) arrived on the scene shortly after the initial response to mitigate the leak. Utility workers estimated it would take approximately one hour to access the line and safely crimp the break.
Following the repairs, SoCalGas successfully stopped the leak. Officials subsequently lifted all evacuation orders and reopened the roadway to regular traffic.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
