
A fast-moving brush fire dubbed the Collier Fire broke out near Interstate 15 and Collier Avenue, prompting an immediate emergency response and threatening nearby structures.
The blaze is currently estimated at 1 acre and is burning at a moderate rate of spread, according to initial radio traffic reports from Incident Command. Officials estimate the fire has the potential to grow to 20 to 25 acres under current conditions.
Due to the immediate threat to structures in the vicinity, Incident Command has requested additional firefighting resources on an immediate-need basis. Law enforcement has also been dispatched to manage traffic control along Collier Avenue to ensure access for emergency vehicles and apparatus.
