Supervisors approve Leon Road gate

A gate that was installed where Leon Road once aligned with Briggs Road will now allow that former portion of Leon Road to be closed to traffic.A 5-0 Riverside County Board of Supervisors vote on June 9 approved the use of the gate. The gate will be locked to prevent normal public access but may be opened by responders in the event of an emergency.When the County of Riverside extended Clinton Keith Road from Interstate 215 to State Route 79, a lockable gate was installed along the southern right-of-way on Leon Road at its intersection with the former alignment of Briggs Road. The gate will prevent access of Leon Road to and to the former alignment of Briggs Road by public non-emergency traffic.Section 966(a) of the California Streets and Highways Code allows a local government
