Fire resources responded to a reported vegetation fire at 10:07 a.m. Thursday, July 23, just east of Kirby Rd. in Anza.Dubbed the Kirby Fire, the blaze quickly grew to an estimated 3 to 5 acres, burning on both sides of Burnt Valley Rd. with a moderate rate of spread to the north while threatening nearby structures, according to radio traffic.By 10:29 a.m., CAL FIRE Incident Command revised the estimate to 5 acres, with the fire continuing to spread at a moderate rate.The California Highway Patrol was requested to close St. Hwy. 371 between Burnt Valley Rd. and Hwy. 74 as firefighting operations intensified.
