Hemet allocates $100,000 to RV towing program

The Hemet City Council approved an increase in funding for the city’s Abandoned Recreational Vehicle and Motorhome Tow Rotation Program.A 4-1 vote July 14, with Tom Lodge opposed, authorized the allocation of $100,000 from the city’s Measure U sales tax revenue to fund the program. Although the program includes a rotation among towing companies, Valley Auto Salvage is currently the only company participating and the city council action also approved an amendment to the agreement with the company which increases the maximum compensation from $50,000 to $100,000.The city has experienced an increase in abandoned, dismantled, and inoperable recreational vehicles and motorhomes on public streets and private property.
