In a September 4 football game in Mission Viejo between two high school teams who entered the contest with 2-0 season records Capistrano Valley defeated Great Oak by a 35-27 margin.“It was a hard-fought game. We made too many mistakes and gave them extra possessions throughout the game. They’re a well-coached team, and you can’t do that. You can’t give them extra possessions,” said Great Oak head coach Herschel Ramirez. “You have to play a clean game to beat a team like that.”Some of the extra possessions were the result of Great Oak turnovers. “We had three turnovers in the first half,” Ramirez said.Those consisted of two interceptions and a punt which went off a Wolfpack player.
