Authorities detained a person Monday evening after a vegetation fire near Highway 74 and Palomar Road.
The fire was reported about 6:01 p.m. Sept. 28. Nearby residents used fire extinguishers and shovels to keep the flames from spreading before Menifee police and a CAL FIRE crew arrived.
A witness on scene gave police a photo of the person walking east along the north side of Highway 74. Officers detained a person minutes later near Highway 74 and Menifee Road. CAL FIRE investigators responded to determine the cause of the fire.
A man was arrested. The identity of the suspect is unknown at this time.
