The City of Menifee awarded a contract for the resurfacing of Mapes Road.A 5-0 Menifee City Council vote on October 7 authorized a $299,936.40 contract with Haitbrink Asphalt Paving, Inc., for the work. The city council also found that the minor alteration of an existing street involving a negligible expansion of the existing use was categorically exempt from California Environmental Quality Act review.The resurfacing of Mapes Road will be from Sherman Road to Dawson Road. The project will also include minor shoulder widening to re-establish the roadway edge.Nine companies submitted bids by the September 8 deadline and all were under the engineer’s estimate of $770,625.
