Temecula Valley Historical Society to hold special showing of ‘Chasing Voices’

TEMECULA – Temecula Valley Historical Society will host a special viewing of a film about the linguist John Peabody Harrington at 6 p.m., Monday, May 23.Harrington documented fading Native languages in the southwest U.S. in the 1920s and 1930s. This film “Chasing Voices” aired on PBS in November 2021. Lisa L. Woodward, Ph. D., an archivist for the Pechanga Cultural Resources Department who is featured in the documentary will introduce this approximately two-hour program and will explain its ties to the Temecula Valley. There is no cost to attend. The public is invited, and Woodward will answer questions afterward. For any who cannot attend in person, the presentation will be live streamed on the historical society Facebook page and will be archived on the society’s YouTube chan
