Juneteenth Celebration brings major attendance to MSJC’s Menifee campus to enjoy ‘Freedom Day’

There was little held back in the third annual Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom & Excellence at the Mt. San Jacinto College Menifee campus June 15 to celebrate the end of slavery in America with the Emancipation Proclamation made by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863.Despite the 90-plus degree temperatures, hundreds of residents with their families turned out to join in the celebration that began at 11 a.m. Entertainment continued through the afternoon and into the evening.Performing on the stage that day were R&B artists, drum teams, soul dancers, Christian rap, prayers by local pastors, and inspiring talks from Black city and county officials.
