Fire scorches 80 acres near I-15 in Lake Elsinore

A brush fire scorching nearly 80 acres near I-15 and Temescal Canyon Road in Lake Elsinore was quickly contained by firefighters Sunday, Aug. 25.The Ivy Fire was first reported just before 11 a.m. and brought on an aggressive response by firefighters, including both ground and air attacks in response to the blaze.According to Cal Fire, firefighters responded to the scene with assistance from the United States Forest Service.“The first arriving Chief Officer reported approximately one-half to 2 acres of vegetation burning in heavy fuels at a slow to moderate rate of spread,” according to April Newman of Cal Fire.A Cal Fire Riverside helicopter drops water on the Ivy Fire near Temescal Canyon Road in Lake Elsi
