Multiple fires scorch brush along state highway in Aguanga

Three brush fires that erupted Thursday, Aug. 22, alongside state Route 371 on the south end of Aguanga blackened 34 acres and were 65% contained.The non-injury blazes were reported about 4 p.m. nearly 2 miles apart, on the south side of the highway, between Yucca Lane and Wilson Valley Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.Twenty-one engine crews from the Riverside County Fire Department, Murrieta Fire and Rescue and the Pechanga reservation deployed to the fires, in addition to four county hand crews, totaling 150 personnel, according to the fire department.Four Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter were making runs on the fires.
