Board appoints interim county chief probation officer

To ensure continuity within the Riverside County Department of Probation, the county board of supervisors Aug. 27, appointed an interim chief probation officer, who will take over when current Chief Mark Hake leaves in September.In a 5-0 vote without comment, the board approved the appointment of Assistant Chief Probation Officer Ron Miller to the temporary post.Miller, who has worked with Hake for several decades, will serve as interim chief until the county recruits a permanent replacement, which is expected to take three to four months.Hake is slated to officially leave the probation department on Sept. 11.
