Highway 243 resurfacing project underway by Caltrans contractor
Idyllwild and Pine Cove residents and business owners found relief this week as Highway 243 from Banning to Lake Fulmor and beyond with flagging and escorts from Caltrans being in place.The vital highway to Idyllwild from Banning and interstate 10 in the desert communities to Lake Fulmor had been closed since the Feb. 14 superstorm washed away large sections of the highway that required major repairs and undergirding by Caltrans contractor Ames Construction.Now that the highway is once again open with flagging and occasional escorts, Caltrans announced it will begin a $8.5 million-dollar pavement rehabilitation project on the highway 24 in Banning.
