Senator seeks students’ input on new state laws

Sen. Jeff Stone, R-Temecula, has announced the start of his annual “There Ought to be a Law” contest, seeking recommendations from Riverside County students on what laws they would like to see enacted or changed.“By asking our high school students to propose new laws, I am hoping to tap into their bright, inquisitive minds and also to inspire them to get involved in politics and public service,” Stone said. “I am looking for proposed legislation that addresses issues on both the local and statewide level.”The contest, which Stone has held every year since 2016, will end Friday, Dec. 20, when all student submissions must be received by the senator’s office.“I will choose at least one of the entries and begin the process of creating legislation to be considered by
