Menifee to enforce new illegal dumping fines, penalties

MENIFEE – Menifee’s Code Enforcement Division will begin implementing new illegal dumping fines and penalties after receiving direction from the city council at an Oct. 2 meeting. Fines will range from $1,000 for a first offense, $1,500 for a second offense and $3,000 or more for a third offense. Code Enforcement will also have the authority to impound a violator’s vehicle per California Vehicle Code.“In the last eight months, the city of Menifee has seen an increase in illegal dumping on our city streets and right of ways,” Colin McNie, director of code enforcement, said. “Public Works has hauled away 7,260 cubic yards of household goods, trash, tires, couches, mattresses, refrigerators and construction materials from our city rights of way.”“This issue is caused b
