NAMIWalk to traverse Diamond Valley Lake

Walkers will begin in the Diamond Valley Lake Marina parking lot at the 17th annual Inland Empire 5K NAMIWalk Saturday, Oct. 26, beginning at 9 a.m. to spread awareness of mental illness.The funding raised at National Alliance on Mental Illness’s event will help bring awareness of mental health issues and help families experiencing this illness in the Inland Empire. The organization hosts 100 other NAMIWalks across the country as NAMI seeks to make people aware that 20% of children ages 12-18 have, or will have, a serious mental illness. More than 43 million adults experience mental illness in a given year.This year’s NAMIWalk Honorary Chair is Dr. Shari McMahan, provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University.
