Fire erupts in homeless encampment adjacent to 60 freeway
JURUPA VALLEY (CNS) - A fire broke out Friday morning in a homeless encampment adjacent to the 60 freeway in Jurupa Valley and scorched nearly a half-acre.The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:25 a.m. behind a Jack in the Box restaurant, facing the westbound side of the freeway on Rubidoux Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning near a tent where several transients were looking on, according to reports from the scene.Firefighters fully contained the blaze just before noon. The restaurant was not impacted.The cause of the fire was under investigation.
