Crews to demolish old bridge, requiring full freeway closure

A freeway overpass in Menifee is scheduled to be demolished this weekend, requiring a full closure of Interstate 215 for two nights, during which motorists will be detoured around the project site.According to the Menifee Department of Public Works, the original two-lane Scott Road Bridge is scheduled to be taken down in segments at night Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22-23. The demolition work had been set for this past weekend, but planning issues delayed it for a week.The old overcrossing was replaced earlier this year with a six-lane span, serving as the new Scott Road/I-215 Interchange.The first freeway shutdown is slated to get underway at 8 p.m. Friday and end about 8 a.m. Saturday, and for the duration, both north- and southbound traffic will be diverted off I-215 via newly
