Riverside County supervisors slated to initiate ordinance limiting where trucks can travel
RIVERSIDE (CNS) - The Board of Supervisors is expected Tuesday to direct the Riverside County Transportation & Land Management Agency to start drafting an ordinance to prohibit trucks that exceed certain weight limits from operating on some unincorporated county roads to reduce impacts on residential areas.Last year, Board Chairman Kevin Jeffries first broached the idea of travel restrictions for big rigs to prevent them from exacerbating congestion and roadway surface damage in certain locations."Commercial vehicles tend to utilize county highways as cut-through routes in an attempt to avoid congestion on regional highways," according to a TLMA statement posted to the board's agenda.According to the agency, the county has authority to impose restrictions based on the size
