Estimated $100K worth of marijuana discovered during Menifee traffic stop

MENIFEE — A motor deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Menifee Station discovered more than 130 pounds of marijuana, which the agency said was worth more than $100,000 in the back of a moving truck during a traffic stop on Tuesday.The deputy conducted the traffic stop on the 27000 block of Highway 74 in the city of Menifee in the afternoon. After contacting the driver of the vehicle, Salvador Cazares of Hemet, the deputy noticed Cazares was covered in cannabis shake. He also noticed the strong smell associated with the plant. Upon further investigation, the cannabis was discovered in the rear of the truck and Cazares, 52, was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for possession and transportation of marijuana for sales.
