It was cold, and I mean a California cold of 40 degrees, when I got in my truck to drive to work. I noticed that one of the windows was rolled down a bit so I hit the button to roll it up when – Bam! The whole window fell off the track, totally broken. So far it was shaping up to be a great day – insert sarcasm here. It’s OK, I said to myself. I grew up in Oregon. I can handle a little broken window and some cold air. I’ll just turn the heater on. Be a man, I said. So, I jumped in, started the truck, let the engine warm up and turned on the heater. Then out came the sweet feeling of freezing cold air. Cozy, toasty, comfy… none of these words came to mind. I can’t type the ones that did. There I was, driving down the road with a broken window that wouldn’t roll up
