San Jacinto fire stations designated newborn baby ‘Safety Surrender Sites’

San Jacinto fire Chief Bill Weiser asked and received the San Jacinto City Council approval to designate the city’s fire stations as Safety Surrender Sites where, under special circumstances, newborn babies can be surrendered to the designated fire stations in the city.The local fire department required the council to give its approval before the designation can go into effect. The action is a part of the city’s participation in the Safely Surrendered Baby Awareness Month of February.The Safely Surrender Sites complies with the state’s “The Safely Surrendered Baby Law” that was passed by the California State Legislature Jan. 1, 2001, with the intent to prevent harm and possible death to newborns according to California Health and Safety Code, section 1255.7.Under the
