Valen is a friendly, gentle and laid-back 9-year-old, off-track thoroughbred gelding in need of a loving permanent home.He stands 16.2 hands – five and a half feet – at the withers, or shoulder. But despite his colossal size, he is easygoing and relaxed, Heavenly Horse Haven rescue owner Gina Perrin said.Being an off-track thoroughbred means that he had a career racing but has retired from the sport. He is responding well to continuing lessons in English discipline with his calm and steady nature.Perrin said Valen has excellent ground manners, meaning that he is easy to work with and is not aggressive or pushy. He does not bite, kick or pin his ears in anger. This horse welcomes his time with people, she said.
