Lent activities planned at Sacred Heart Catholic Church

The 2020 Lenten season began Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, and will come to an end Easter Sunday, April 12. The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anza has scheduled a slew of special activities to celebrate the days before Easter. During Lent, Catholics are asked to devote themselves with prayer and the reading Scripture, and by giving alms and fasting. Many are familiar with the tradition of abstaining from meat on Fridays during Lent, but Catholics are also called to practice self-discipline and fast in other ways throughout the season and encouraged to make going to confession a significant part of their spiritual lives during Lent.
