Rancho Water District suspends any possible rate increases until 2020, to close lobby

Rancho Water District held special meetings today to provide guidance to staff going forward during the COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic. The RWD board decided unanimously to postpone any talk of possible rate increases at the district until September 2020, a move to show solidarity with the community during the public crisis. They agreed as well that there would be no water turnoffs during the crisis. The board also decided to close the front lobby of the offices. They will accept cash payments by appointment only. The move was made to limit in-person contact between ratepayers and staff. "A press release will be sent shortly to news outlets," according to RWD Executive Board Senior Vice President Danny Martin.
